Pre-Primary and Primary Programs
At Lakeview Academy, we believe that the early years of a child's education are crucial for laying the foundation for a lifetime of learning, growth, and character development. Our Pre-Primary and Primary Programs are designed to nurture each child's unique potential, fostering a love of learning in an environment rooted in faith and values.
Our Philosophy
Faith and Character Development:
At the heart of our curriculum is a commitment to nurturing not just the mind, but the spirit. We believe in the power of faith to guide our students, teaching them to live with integrity, kindness, and compassion. Through daily practices and interactions, we instill values that will shape their character and guide their choices throughout life.
Holistic Learning Experience:
Children learn best when they are engaged with the world around them. That's why we provide a balanced approach to education that includes both structured learning and open-ended exploration. Our programs incorporate a mix of sensory activities, indoor and outdoor play, and hands-on learning experiences. Whether it's exploring nature, engaging in creative arts, or participating in group activities, our students are encouraged to discover their passions and talents.
Individualized Attention:
Every child is unique, and we celebrate those differences. Our dedicated teachers work closely with each student, tailoring learning experiences to meet their individual needs and learning styles. We believe in fostering a growth mindset, where challenges are seen as opportunities, and every achievement is celebrated.
Strong Academic Foundation:
Our curriculum is designed to provide a strong academic foundation, preparing students for future educational success. We focus on developing core skills in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking, ensuring that our students are well-equipped to excel in their academic journey.

From sensory bins to tactile art projects, we make learning a hands-on adventure.
Outdoor, Nature-Based Play:
We are passionate about the power of nature in fostering a child’s development. Our programs incorporate extensive outdoor play, allowing children to explore the natural world, engage in physical activity, and develop a connection with the environment. Tracking Child’s Progress
Q: How do you track my child’s progress? And how will I be kept informed about how they’re doing?"
At Lakeview Academy, we use a variety of assessment methods to monitor how they’re growing in both knowledge and skills. Our teachers regularly observe and document each child's learning journey, paying close attention to their individual strengths and areas where they may need extra support.
Ongoing Communication with Parents
We believe that open communication with parents is key to a successful partnership. You’ll receive regular updates on your child’s progress through detailed report cards, but we also emphasize informal communication. Our teachers are always available for quick check-ins, whether it’s a conversation at pick-up, our FB group, an email, or a phone call. We want you to feel confident and informed about your child’s learning experience every step of the way.
Parent-Teacher Meetings
In addition to regular updates, we hold scheduled parent-teacher meetings throughout the school year. These meetings offer a dedicated time to discuss your child’s development in more depth, set personalized goals, and collaborate on strategies to support their growth.
We know you want the very best for your child
At Lakeview Academy, we understand that parents want the very best for their children. Here’s what our programs offer to meet those needs:

Comprehensive Development:
Parents want a school that nurtures their child’s overall development—academic, emotional, social, and spiritual. At Lakeview Academy, we take a holistic approach, ensuring that children develop the skills and values they need to succeed in all areas of life.

We foster a strong sense of community among our students, parents, and staff. We believe in building connections that support the growth and well-being of each child, creating a sense of belonging that extends beyond the classroom.
Innovative and Engaging Curriculum:
Parents want their children to be excited about learning. Our innovative curriculum is designed to be engaging and hands-on, sparking curiosity and encouraging exploration. We incorporate modern teaching methods alongside timeless principles to ensure a well-rounded education.

Is There Financial Aid?
Q: Is There Any Additional Financial Help Like, availability of scholarships, financial aid, or payment plans?
Are There Financial Aid Options Available?
We understand that finances are an important consideration for many families. Because we are a non-profit organization, we’re able to provide tax receipts for 20% of the faith-based portion of our curriculum. This can help make our programs more accessible to those who need it.
We also offer sponsorships, which may be available depending on the season. We encourage you to reach out and discuss your specific situation with us. We would much rather have a conversation to explore options than see your child miss out on the opportunity to join our community. Please don’t hesitate to ask—we’re here to help.

Transitions for students
Q: How Does the School Support Transitions from Home to Beginning School?
How Does Lakeview Academy Support Transitions From Home To School?
We understand that starting school is a significant milestone for both you and your child. At Lakeview Academy, we are committed to making this transition as smooth and positive as possible.
Personalized Transition Support:
Every child is unique, and we recognize that each one may experience the start of school differently. Our experienced teachers and staff are here to provide personalized support, ensuring that your child feels comfortable, secure, and excited about this new chapter. We take the time to get to know each child, understanding their individual needs and preferences, so we can help them adapt to their new environment at their own pace.
Gradual Introduction:
For children who are entering school for the first time, we offer a gradual introduction to the school day and routines. This approach allows them to become familiar with their surroundings, meet new friends, and build trust with their teachers in a way that feels natural and reassuring.
Ongoing Communication:
We believe that a successful transition is built on strong communication between home and school. We will keep you informed every step of the way, providing updates on how your child is settling in and offering tips and resources to support them at home.
Creating a Welcoming Environment:
Our classrooms are designed to be warm and welcoming, filled with activities that engage and inspire. By creating a space where children feel safe and valued, we help them develop the confidence they need to thrive in their new school setting.

Continuity in Education
Q: If my child starts in Pre-Primary or Primary, what happens when they move up? Will they have to change schools, or can they stay here? How do you make sure they’re ready for the next grade?
A:
Expanding Grade Levels:
Starting with our Pre-Primary and Primary programs, we are excited to offer continued education through Grade 6. As part of our growth plan, we are adding an additional grade each year, ensuring that your child can continue their education in a familiar, nurturing environment without needing to transition to a new school.
Preparing for the Future:
Our curriculum is thoughtfully designed to build on the skills and knowledge your child acquires each year. As they progress through the grades, we provide a solid academic foundation while also nurturing their personal growth and character development. This continuity ensures that each child is well-prepared not only for the next grade level but also for any future educational experiences, whether they continue with us or transition to another school.
Strong Support System:
Our dedicated teachers work closely with each student, offering personalized attention that helps them thrive at every stage of their education. We focus on fostering a growth mindset and helping students develop the resilience, curiosity, and love of learning that will serve them well in all their future endeavors.
A Seamless Transition:
For families considering future transitions, whether within Lakeview Academy or beyond, we provide the support and guidance needed to ensure a smooth experience. We maintain strong communication with parents, offering insights into their child’s readiness for the next steps and any resources that might be needed for a successful transition.
At Lakeview Academy, your child’s educational journey is our priority, and we are committed to walking alongside them—and you—every step of the way.

At Lakeview Academy, we embrace modern technology to enhance our curriculum and prepare students for the digital age. However, we prioritize one-on-one interactions and being fully present in the classroom, believing this approach is key to effective learning.
Recognizing the challenges children face today, including excessive screen time (staggering stats like each child in Nova Scotia is on a device for 7+ hours every day, and in the mean time not knowing what outcome that will create) and its impact on attention spans and brain development, we are committed to fostering an environment where students can focus, engage, and build essential skills without the constant distraction of devices. To support this, we have a strict policy regarding cell phones and personal devices during school hours, ensuring that learning remains the primary focus.
Check out our full policy and how we balance technology and traditional learning on our website.
-
We thrive because of the donated time and effort of our amazing parents, family members and volunteers. Our primary need is for volunteers to come and help children read, help with playtime on the playground, chapel, or doing things like helping with arts and crafts or science class or projects.
For parents, we really appreciate all the support and help within and outside the school.
For family members, if you are not able to be local, even sharing the school's facebook posts, or joining in the discussion in our private school group really helps our sense of community! Thank you so much for all the support we have! -
